Erasmus Student Network (ESN)
Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is the biggest student association in Europe. It was born on the 16th October 1989 and legally registered in 1990 for supporting and developing student exchange. ESN is
present in more than 900 Higher Education Institutions from 40 countries. The network is constantly developing and expanding with currently around 15,000 active members that are in many sections supported by so called buddies mainly taking care of international students. Thus, ESN involves around 40,000 young people offering its services on a voluntary basis to around 220,000 international students every year.
In synthesis, ESN works in the interest of international students while improving their social and practical integration so that we can effectively represent their needs and rights on the local, national, and international level. Furthermore, ESN provides relevant information about mobility programmes to motivate students to study abroad aiming to to work on the reintegration of homecoming students. Our core is based on the volunteer work of our members instigating active citizenship and the European identity.
