EM Germany: Take it easy, Europe! “Best of” film presents highlights of European Pupils’ Competition
A record number of 85,000 kids and teenagers took part in EM Germany’s European Pupils’ Competition this year. The competition’s motto was: “United in diversity – Europe between tradition and and the modern age”. The best of the touching, lively, optimistic contributions are now presented in a short film that came out last week. “Europa, chill ma’” (“Take it easy, Europe”) – that was the title of a cool rap song summing up the European peace project in a few lines mentioning bunkers and stating “even small wars claim a lot of victims”. Older pupils took a trip into the future: “Beam me to 2027” was their task and they came up with visions of a united world and with breath taking animations of our digital future. All in all 73.543 contributions of impressive art work, essays and videos were handed in, more than 500 of them were awarded by a federal jury, state juries honored thousands more. Many participants also followed the path of international cooperation – teachers and their classes can work with partners in other countries via eTwinning. The next and 65th round of the European Pupils’ Competition will start after the summer holidays and focus on the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
