EM Croatia: Round Table – Innovation and Research as Engine of our Economy, Society and Democracy
European Movement Croatia organized the 3rd of a series of roundtables Democracy in motion in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain to the Republic of Croatia entitled INNOVATION AND RESEARCH AS ENGINE OF OUR ECONOMY, SOCIETY AND DEMOCRACY on Thursday, October 24th, 2019, at 11.00h, at the Europe House Zagreb (Jurišićeva 1/I), focusing on the importance of innovation and research in our economies and societies.
The third roundtable was focusing on the importance of innovation and research in our economies and societies. Most of the advanced economies and democracies give to innovation a high relevance in the public debates, media, public and private budget, but is this a result of the economic progress or the origin of it? How innovation affects our daily life, our society and our democracies, and the most important thing, which policies should be applied by the European Governments to promote innovation and research? Education system, co-operation between private firms, governmental institutions, universities and international cooperation, were some of the topics that our participant speakers were talking about in this panel.
The participant speakers of the round table were:

- David Romić, Embedded Software Development Manager at Rimac Automobili –
- Davor Štetner, President of Croatian business angels network – CRANE Croatia
- Tonči Tadić, Head of the Ruder Boškovic Institute’s activities in the EUROfusion project and coordinator of the Croatian Fusion Research Unit (CRU)
The opening speech was delivered by Ms Nataša Owens, President of the European Movement Croatia – European House Zagreb, Vice-President of the European Movement International.
The moderator was Mr. Pablo Cascón Salgado, Trade and Economic Attaché and the roundtable was in English.
