Foreign Affairs Council
The Foreign Affairs Council will start with a discussion on current affairs, allowing ministers to review pressing issues on the international agenda.
EU-Uzbekistan Cooperation Council
The Cooperation Council will discuss bilateral relations under the current EU-Uzbekistan partnership and cooperation agreement. It will take stock of progress achieved since the previous Council meeting in November 2018.

Defence ministers will discuss security and defence issues, with a particularfocus on PESCO (Permanent Structured Cooperation) and its coherence with other defence initiatives.

Commissioner Mogherini chairs the Foreign Affairs Council
Commissioner Katainen in Helsinki
Jyrki Katainen will be in Helsinki to attend a working lunch with Antti Herlin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kone Corporation, and will also deliver a keynote address on sustainable finance at event organized by Miltton.
Commissioner Mimica in Johannesburg
Neven Mimica will be in Johannesburg, South Africa, to participate in the Africa Investment Forum.

Commissioner Hogan receives European Chamber of Commerce representatives
Phil Hogan will receive representatives from the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea, as well as Abdulaziz Kamilov, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in Brussels.
Conference on the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights
The conference will be an occasion to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the EU Charter of fundamental rights becoming a legally binding instrument and reflect on how, with the help of the whole enforcement chain and in particular national authorities, civil society, and rights defenders, it can become a meaningful part of everyday life.
EU-Canada Civil Society Forum
Participants will have the chance to exchange with one another, and with officials from the European Commission and from the Government of Canada, on matters related to the implementation of CETA’s chapter 22 (trade and sustainable development), chapter 23 (trade and labour) and chapter 24 (trade and environment).
Implementing Basel III: Challenges and Impact
The EC – Directorate General for financial stability, financial services and capital markets union – organises a conference to discuss the impact and challenges of implementing the finalised Basel III standards in the EU. The conference furthermore aims to gather ideas on whether new risks or developments that banks face or are going to face would require regulatory action.

Valdis Dombrovkis will receive Joseph Daul, President of the European People’s Party, and will also deliver a keynote speech at the ‘Long Term and Sustainable Investment Intergroup’ launch event in Strasbourg.
Commissioner Gabriel receives Limbourg and Türk
Mariya Gabriel will receive Peter Limbourg, Director General of the Deutsche Welle, as well as Danilo Türk, President-elect of the World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid.

Johannes Hahn will participate in the Smart Regions 3.0 Conference – Transformation through Smart Specialisation, as well as the conference ‘Boosting cross border regions through better transport’, in Brussels.

Commissioner Vestager meets members of the Momentum Movement
Margrethe Vestager will meet with members of Momentum Movement, in Brussels, and will also receive Prof. Holger Hoos, founder of the Confederation of laboratories for artificial intelligence research in Europe (CLAIRE) and professor of machine learning at Leiden University.
Commissioner Dombrovskis in London
Valdis Dombrovskis will deliver a keynote speech at a roundtable discussion with Peter Estlin, Lord Mayor of the City of London and Krisjanis Karins, Prime Minister of Latvia. He will also participate in the Economist Intelligence roundtable, attend an event with Latvian financial institutions and attend the Celebration of the Independence Day of Latvia.

Employment of persons with disabilities: how can we change society’s view
Perception, fear, myth and prejudice continue to limit the understanding and acceptance of disability in workplaces everywhere. Most of society still looks at persons with disabilities as unable to work and thinks that accommodating them in the workplace is expensive.The EESC is organising a public hearing with the aim to present programmes and projects that prove that these perceptions are incorrect.
Day of the Liberal Professions
This event aims to gain fresh insight into the impact of artificial intelligence on the exercise of professional services and on clients’ and patients’ rights.

Rovaniemi Arctic Spirit Conference
The conference focuses on climate change in the Arctic, especially from the point of view of young people. The conference programme includes expert speeches and panel discussions. Another aim of the conference is to promote dialogue between young people and decision-makers.
Tuesday 12 November
Vision Zero Summit
The conference will update the so-called vision zero thinking for promoting safety, health and wellbeing at work and share the latest research and good practices from workplaces and expert organisations.

ENTSO-E Annual Conference
The annual conference serves two purposes: to celebrate ten years of cooperation between transmission system operators (TSOs) and look ahead to the next ten years, and to increase awareness of future challenges and opportunities.
13-15 November
SET Plan Conference
The European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan) aims to accelerate the development and deployment of low-carbon technologies. The annual SET Plan Conference brings together decision-makers, authorities, stakeholders and researchers to monitor the progress of SET Plan aims.

MISSOC Network Meeting
The Mutual Information System on Social Protection (MISSOC) is a joint database of comparable and up-to-date information on social protection among EU member states.The network meeting will update the information contained in MISSOC comparative tables. A national-level theme of the Helsinki meeting is the basic income experiment.

Inauguration of the new secondary site of the EDQM
The CoE will open and inaugurate the new secondary site of the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM). It will enable the safe storage of contingency stocks of European Pharmacopoeia reference standards and ensure their distribution worldwide in the event of major incidents at its main site in Strasbourg.
