Agriculture and Fisheries Council
The meeting will include a presentation of the European Green Deal communication, followed by an exchange of views on the agricultural aspects of the communication. Ministers will also discuss the proposal for a regulation on CAP transitional rules which is aiming at providing continuity of CAP support to European farmers and other beneficiaries in 2021.

General Affairs Council
Ministers will hear a presentation of the Croatian Presidency’s priorities for the first half of 2020, followed by an exchange of views on the Conference on the Future of Europe.

High-level public conference on implementing the European Green Deal – the European Climate Law
The Commission plans to propose the first European Climate Law in the first 100 days of its mandate. The Climate Law will set the direction of travel for EU climate action, give predictability for investors, and anchor the irreversibility of the transformation.

EU-Japan Follow-up Committee – Mission to Japan
During its mission to Japan this year, the EU-Japan Follow-up Committee will build on its former work in order to further strengthen its cooperation with its well-established network of organisations. Several bilateral meetings with economic and social stakeholders and Japanese authorities will take place, and a roundtable discussion will be organised on “Circular economy – what needs to be done?”.

Mainstream Biodiversity Conference
The purpose of this event is to offer a comprehensive approach to biodiversity in day-to-day life by engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and, in particular, youth. One of the objectives is to develop more innovative and creative approaches of addressing biodiversity issues, while creating an interactive and dynamic platform for discussion.

Stakeholder consultation “Bio-diverse cities and regions beyond 2020 at the UN CBD COP15 and in the next EU strategy”
The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is drafting an opinion on “Bio-diverse cities and regions beyond 2020 at the UN CBD COP15 and in the next EU strategy”. The objective is to adopt the official position of the CoR to disseminate in the ongoing preparatory meetings and events towards the 15th Conference of Parties of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (UN CBD COP 15) and consequently to contribute to the post-2020 EU Biodiversity Strategy.

The High-Level Group on Gender Mainstreaming is an informal group chaired by the European Commission. It helps the Presidencies and the Commission to identify gender equality subjects and priorities which are of political relevance, including for the Council debate.

The aim of the Conference is to discuss the possibility of decreasing the employment gap between women and men by addressing influencing factors to women’s full participation in the labour market.
