Monday 16 March

Eurogroup
The meeting will be held in two formats. During regular format ministers of euro area countries will discuss preparation of the international meetings: Inflation and exchange rate developments, Greece – Fifth Enhanced surveillance report, Miscellaneous and updated draft budgetary plan of Austria. During inclusive format ministers of the 27 EU member states will discuss ESM Treaty – Political endorsement of the package, Early introduction of the common backstop – Political endorsement of
the draft Amending Agreement to the IGA and next steps, COVID 19 – economic policy challenges.

Tuesday 17 March

Economic and Financial Affairs Council
On the agenda: High Level Forum on the capital markets union, a policy debate in view of the upcoming review of the 2009 Solvency II directive, the presentation of 2020 country reports and in-depth reviews by the European Commission, and exchange of views on the implementation of the country-specific recommendations with focus on environmental sustainability issues and greening investment. The Croatian presidency and the Commission will also report to the Council of the outcome of the G20 February meeting, and the Ministers will finalise the preparation of the G20 and IMF spring meetings of April 2020.

Friday 20 March

Informal meeting of competitiveness ministers
Council presidency organises informal meeting of ministers to discuss initiatives related to Internal Market and Industry. The meeting will be held in Zagreb, Croatia.

Monday 16 March

Von der Leyen meets Michel, Lagarde and Centeno
Commission President Ursula von der Leyen meets Charles Michel, President of the European Council, Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, and Mário Centeno, President of the Eurogroup, for a working lunch.

Gentiloni meets Minister for Finance of the Republic of Lithuania
Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni will meet with Vilius Šapoka, Minister for Finance of the Republic of Lithuania.

Gabriel receives President of the European Research Council
Commissioner Marija Gabriel will meet with Mr Mauro Ferrari, President of the European Research Council.

Dombrovskis and Gentiloni meet Managing Director of the European Stability Mechanism and Chief Executive Officer of the European Financial Stability Facility
Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis and Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni meet Klaus Regling, Managing Director of the European Stability Mechanism and Chief Executive Officer of the European Financial Stability Facility.

Wednesday 18 March

College meeting
Commissioners will discuss and present ‘2020 Action Plan on Human Rights and Democracy’, ‘Eastern Partnership post-2020’, ‘Updated Skills Agenda for Europe’, ‘Proposal for a Council Recommendation on Vocational Education and Training’.

Commissioner Johannes Hahn will meet with Sophie Wilmès, Prime Minister of Belgium.

Tuesday 17 March – Friday 20 March

Conference on European Research Infrastructures
The event is titled “European Research Infrastructures for a smarter future” will bring together researchers, managers and other experts on research infrastructures from Europe. At the conference a “White paper on Future of Research Infrastructures in European Research Area“ will be presented. The objective of the event is to explore the potential of European Research Infrastructures to make a meaningful impact on the European strategic agendas and identify the ways in which this could be achieved. It will also increase the visibility of opportunities provided by Research Infrastructures and promote partnership between business and academia.

European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights


Monday 16 March

Event on the Global trends in the Rule of Law
FRA will be a panellist at an event on internal and external rule of law challenges for the European Union, which will be held in Brussels. The event will address data trends in the new 2020 edition of the annual Rule of Law Index documented by the World Justice Project.
