Yesterday afternoon, the 13th Brussels Wednesday Social, organised by the European Movement International, in partnership with Forum Europe, and with the kind support of Metro AG, was held online. The topical event, on “Co-operation in Action – the EU single market as the avenue of recovery” (from COVID-19), was attended by over 900 people live, who participated in an initial discussion followed by an engaging Q & A session.

The Panel Discussion was moderated by Joe Lynam, Presenter | BBC. He was joined by four panellists including Eva Maydell MEP President | European Movement International, Luca Visentini, General Secretary | European Trade Union Confederation, Ivonne Julitta Bollow, Global Director Corporate Public Policy | METRO AG, and Kerstin Jorna, Director-General | DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, European Commission.

This first virtual version the Brussels Wednesday Social brought together business, EU officials, government representatives and trade unions to discuss how the EU can make the most of the single market, as well as how to strengthen and improve it so as to provide benefits to EU member states and citizens throughout the crisis and beyond.
