Votes: Reducing inequalities with a special focus on in-work poverty; The gender perspective in the Covid-19 crisis and post-crisis period; Gender Equality in EU’s foreign and security policy; Determination of a clear risk of a serious breach by the Republic of Poland of the rule of law; Gender Mainstreaming Network.

European Council


Monday 22 June

EU-China Summit
President Charles Michel and President Ursula von de Leyen will take part in the summit and discuss cooperation on the response to the COVID-19 pandemic and on the recovery. They will also assess the EU-China bilateral relations.

Council of Ministers


Tuesday 23 June

Environment Council
EU environment and climate ministers will convene in an informal video conference to discuss how sustainable policies can contribute to the recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.  Furthermore, the German presidency will present its work programme.

Education, Youth, Culture and Sports Council
EU ministers will discuss the implications of COVID-19 on education and training and the challenges they are facing in preparing for the next school/academic year in an informal meeting via video conference.

Tripartite Social Summit
The Tripartite Social Summit will take place via video conference.

EU Sustainable Energy Week
An initiative of the European Commission, the EU Sustainable Energy Week will be under the theme: “Beyond the crisis: clean energy for green recovery and growth”. 

Tuesday 23 June

Gabriel joins the Youth, Culture and Sports Council
Commissioner Mariya Gabriel participates in an informal videoconference of Ministers of Education on the implications of COVID-19 on education and training.

Schmit joins the Tripartite Social Summit
Commissioner Nicolas Schmit will take part in the Tripartite Social Summit.

Wednesday 24 June

College meeting
President von der Leyen will hold a structural debate on racism and will present the Draft Budget for the year 2021 together with Commissioner Hahn. Commissioner Jourová will launch the EU Strategy for Victims’ Rights and present the Report on the application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Thursday 25 June

Reynders speaks at conference on rule of law
Commissioner Didier Reynders addresses the conference “Safeguarding the Rule of Law in Europe” organised by the Polish Ombudsman Office and the German Institute for Human Rights.

Simson speaks to Tina Bru
Commissioner Kadri Simson holds a videoconference with Ms Tina Bru, Minister of Petroleum and Energy of Norway.

Video conference of ministers of education
The conference focuses on the lessons learned and functioning of education systems in post-COVID-19.

Thursday 25 June

High-level conference “Unlocking the Potential of European Defence Cooperation: New Opportunities for an Enhanced European Defence Industry”
The conference is co-organised by the Croatian Presidency and the European Defence Agency and focuses on the area of security and defence.
