The National Elective Council of the Italian European Movement has been held in Rome at the “Spazio Europa” the afternoon of November 8th. A series of prominent messages from the highest Offices of the Italian State such as: Giorgio Napolitano, Enrico Letta, Emma Bonino, Vannino Chiti and the presence of the Minister for European Affairs, Enzo Moavero Milanesi that addressed the Council, have been a welcomed and clear evidence of a particular attention to the existing work done in the recent years by the Italian European Movement.

After the Minister speech there have been a series of intervention by representatives and officials of both the Italian Ministry for European Affairs and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In each address has been stressed the importance of the project developed by the Italian European Movement, “Officina 2014: l’Italia in Europa”, to engage civil society in the preparation of the Italian Presidency of the European Union. Eventually the speech session has been closed by the director of EurActiv.it.

The Council has then proceeded to elect the new Presidency Board for the following three years. Pier Virgilio Dastoli was confirmed President for a second term, similarly it has been decided to re-elect the MP Sandro Gozi, the Amb. Rocco Cangelosi and Prof. Sergio Pistone as Vice Presidents, to which Dr. Giampiero Auletta and Sen. Gianluca Susta were added.

Lastly Prof. Fabio Masini has been appointed as new Secretary General while Dr. Ugo Ferruta has been indicated as the person in charge to maintain the relationships with the International European Movement.
