Brussels  –  The  European  Federation  of  Building  Societies  welcomes  the  report  of  the  Liikanen-Group  suggesting  to  adopt  a  mechanism  of  safeguard  which  will  protect  savers  from  the consequences of bad speculations. “When someone practices high risk business activities one cannot
expect  that  savers pay  the bill, the  Managing  Director  Andreas  J.  Zehnder  explains.  “The  risk and  the  responsibility  should  go  together.”  And  both  should  not  be  beard  by  all  the  EU-member states  together.  For  this  purpose  practical  solutions  need  to  be  developed.  The  Bausparkassen  as
institutions regulated by specialized laws could give orientation.
