EM Germany‘s board establishes the organisation’s agenda for 2010/11
During its meeting on 17 September, the newly elected board members of European Movement Germany set the EMG’s working agenda for next year, including action on the “responsibility for integration” of German civil society organisations (according to article 11 EUV) and a fostered communication on topical issues such as the economic and financial crisis.
The board also decided to extend EMG’s “EU De-Briefings” to current topics at the European Parliament. Furthermore, the board welcomed EMG’s international projects which reinforce the cooperation with international partners.
One example is “Train4EU”: In close cooperation with the European Movement Serbia and on behalf of InWent, EMG organises a series of training seminaries for employees of local and regional bodies in South Eastern Europe on e.g. European politics, cross-border cooperation, lobbying and networking. EMG’s board also decided to initiate, in close partnership with the Chamber of Commerce of Hamburg and the Foreign Ministry, a Baltic Sea Network to foster exchange and cooperation with the countries neighbouring the Baltic Sea.
As a first step, EMG launches a scientific study on the impact of the region. The study will be led by the Hamburg-based Institute of international economics, who the Board voted to become an associated member of EMG.
