Exchange of European ideas and cultures in Finland
Debate and discussions
In honour of European day, the European Movement in Finland will organise a series of informative events in different public places in Tampere, Hämeenlinna, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Joensuu, Turku, Vaasa, Rovaniemi, Kuopio, and Pori. From the
7th to the 9th May, a special attention will be given to the issue of a European solidarity, by looking at the Schuman declaration and its impact on today’s Europe in terms of poverty and diversity.
Free information on Europe will be provided to the local people and roundtables will be organised to discuss these issues with MEPs and local politicians.
Introducing the Fins to European cultures
European day in Finland will also be the chance for locals to find out more about their close and far neighbour’s cultures, their music, poetry and dances.
The town of Joensuu will host the free open air European Film Festival during which a couple of European films will be shown to the public.
Prior to the Eurovision song contest, a “lecture” will be given in Hämeenlinna on the history of the song contest and the European Movement.
If you are in Tallinn on the 8th May, you may also find a few members of staff of EM Finland at the open air European Festival.
