European Movement International expresses its condolences to Poland

The European Movement International (EMI) expresses its deepest sympathy and condolences to the victims’ families and to the Polish people following the death of the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczynski, his wife, Maria, and all the other officials and persons who died so tragically in last Saturday’s catastrophic plane crash in Smolensk.

The President of the EMI, Pat Cox, conveyed his "deepest sorrow to the families of the victims for the tragic loss of life of so many distinguished servants of Poland" and expressed his "condolences to the Government and to the people of Poland".

The plane crash near the Russian city Smolensk cost all 96 passengers their lives. The Polish delegation was travelling to Smolensk to commemorate the massacre of Poles in Katyn Forest by the Soviet army in 1940.
