Sharing Ideas for a Meaningful Conference on the Future of Europe
On Thursday, 4 March, the European Movement International will hold its upcoming digital panel discussion which will focus on Sharing Ideas for a Meaningful Conference on the Future of Europe. This event will be an opportunity for esteemed Members of the European Parliament to set out their ideas for shaping the Conference on the Future of Europe. Discussions will focus on the concept, structure, scope and timing of the Conference on the Future of Europe, as well as exploring its jointly agreed principles and objectives. MEPs Danuta Maria Hübner, Doménec Ruiz Devesa and Daniel Freund will share their thoughts on the expected role and contribution of civil society organisations in shaping the debate.

International Women’s Day Webinar
The EP press service will hold a webinar for journalists on women’s leadership in the fight against COVID-19, with a special focus on scientists and carers. Participants will include Women’s Rights Committee Chair, Evelyn Regner, Professor Katalin Karikó, researcher and Senior Vice-President of BioNTech, Dr Maria Rosaria Capobianchi, researcher and Head of the laboratory of virology of Lazzaro Spallanzani, Alda Dalla Valle, head nurse of Epicura Hornu’s emergency service, and several MEPs.

Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON)
Topics discussed will include European Semester for economic policy coordination Annual Sustainable Growth Strategy 2021, strengthening the international role of the euro Adoption of draft report, an economic Dialogue and exchange of views on the Autumn Fiscal Package of the 2020 European Semester and on COVID-19 fiscal policy response with Commissioners Dombrovskis and Gentiloni, and an exchange of views with Chair of the European Statistical Governance Advisory Board (ESGAB).
Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL)
Votes: Vote on the provisional agreement resulting from interinstitutional negotiations on European Social Fund.
Other topics discussed will be fair working conditions, rights and social protection for platform workers, an exchange of views with Commissioner Schmit, an exchange of views on the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR), and finally an exchange of views with stakeholders regarding adequate minimum wages in the EU.
International Women’s Day Inter-parliamentary committee meeting
The Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, in collaboration with the Directorate for Relations with National Parliaments, will hold an inter-parliamentary committee meeting entitled “We are strong: Women leading the fight against Covid-19”. Participants include EP President David Sassoli, EC President Ursula von der Leyen, Commissioner Dalli, the President of Greece, Members of the European Parliament and of National Parliaments across the EU, frontline workers and other distinguished guests.

EU-Albania Stabilisation and Association Council
The Stabilisation and Association Council will discuss relations under the Stabilisation and Association Process and will focus on pre-accession strategy, in particular in the light of the criteria for membership (political criteria, economic criteria, acquis, financial cooperation). It will be chaired by High Representative Josep Borrell.

The Polish Ministry of Economic Development, Labour and Technology and the European Investment Bank are hosting the webinar Investment for recovery and sustainable future – Poland. The webinar will focus on investment needs and priorities for Poland in times of COVID-19, digitalisation and climate change. It brings together a group of economists, policymakers, as well as representatives from financial institutions and the business community.

Zero Discrimination Day
On the occasion of the Zero Discrimination Day, the Anti-racism commission will launch a publication focusing on the human rights of LGBTI persons, which summarises recommendations made as a result of ECRI’s monitoring visits to the Council of Europe’s 47 member states since 2013 when ECRI first included this issue into its country monitoring.
