Brussels Conference
The European Union and the United Nations will co-chair the fifth Brussels Conference on “Supporting the future of Syria and the region” on 29 and 30 March 2021. In view of COVID-19 restrictions, the Conference will take place in a virtual format. The overarching objective of the Brussels Conferences is to continue supporting the Syrian people and mobilise the international community in support of a comprehensive and credible political solution to the Syria conflict, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
Tuesday 30 March
Informal Meeting by Transport Ministers
The Transport Ministers of the EU Member States will come together in a video conference to debate the advancement and modernisation of rail transport across the European Union, with a view to promoting the use of rail both by EU citizens and enterprises and contributing to the goal of climate neutrality by the year 2050 in line with the European Green Deal.

Building a European Health Union
In order to prepare its opinion on the recent health package proposed by the European Commission, the EESC is organising a public hearing on “Building a European Health Union” on 29 March 2021. The aim of the event is to gather input from other EU Institutions, civil society and health professionals.
Tuesday 30 March
COVID-19 vaccination rollout and persons with disabilities
The EESC Thematic Study group on Disability Rights is organising a public hearing on 30 March 2021. The objective of this hearing is to give the floor to one of the groups more hit by the COVID-19 pandemic: persons with disabilities (PWD). In particular, we will look into the situation concerning the prioritization of PWD, or lack of, in the vaccination rollouts within the EU.

European Year of the Rail Kickoff
The launch event for the European Year of Rail, which is organised in cooperation with the European Commission, is a unique opportunity to debate the benefits of rail for travellers, the economy and the climate, as well as the challenges facing the creation of a true single European rail transport space without borders.
The Contribution of the Social Economy to Job Creation and the Implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights Conference
This conference aims to make an effective contribution to the ongoing discussion on the social economy, taking the importance of this reflexion into account, in particular for the formulation of the European Commission’s Action Plan for the Social Economy, which will be presented in the final quarter of 2021, and for the construction and consolidation of the European Pillar of Social Rights.

Entry into application of the “Transparency Regulation” in the food chain Event
An event organised by the European Commission and the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union to mark the coming into force of the new “Regulation on Transparency” and sustainability of the European Union’s system of risk assessment in the food chain.

The impact of the pandemic crisis on migrants’ living and working conditions
The members of the European Integration Network will have the opportunity to discuss the challenges posed by the living and working conditions of migrants given the current pandemic, identify future solutions and reflect on examples of projects that are being developed.

Way forward for protecting vulnerable adults conference
FRA Director will deliver a keynote speech during a high-level online conference on protecting vulnerable adults across Europe. The conference provides an opportunity to reflect on the current situation and look ahead to what steps are necessary to ensure that all members of our diverse societies can enjoy their fundamental rights, including equal access to justice.
European Commission Dialogue on Roma inclusion
On 30 March, FRA will join the European Commission’s regular dialogue with civil society and international partners on Roma inclusion, integration and equality. FRA will provide an update on developments related to its work with the Roma working party, its Roma survey and civil society.

Implementation of ECHR judgments
The Committee of Ministers will publish its annual report for 2020 on the execution of judgments and decisions of the European Court of Human Rights. The report will include country-by-country statistics on the number of pending cases and cases closed, as well as on the payment of just satisfaction to applicants.
