Y Vote 2009 is a European wide campaign of the students association AEGEE designed to create a continuous platform for youth activists to take stands on the most important social issues in Europe, exchange and develop them together and spread them by taking active role in democratic processes. Its aim is to encourage and empower young Europeans, so that they can make informed choices at the European Parliament Elections 2009.
In the framework of this campaign, a series of Conventions are being organized in several EU Member States. This Budapest Convention will explore the topics of Education Policies and Programmes, Mobility, Research, Higher Education Reform, Adult Learning, European Cooperation in Education and Training and will gather around 60 young people from more than twenty EU Member States.
Education is one of the most important areas mentioned in the European Youth Pact which was published by the European Commission in March 2005. Furthermore, it is the target of every member state to keep young people involved in education as much as possible, thus having a knowledge based economy.
Three panel debates will be organized during the event where several MEPs and other actors at the European level will be participating and discussing on the topics of “Education Reform”,“Mobility" , "Life Long Learning” and “New jobs”.
