EDP: Succesful roundtable discussion in Berlin on the fate of the Uyghurs
On Friday, my roundtable discussion on the fate of the Uyghurs in the shadow of the EU-China Investment Agreement took place in Berlin. At this non-partisan event, we again sent a clear message: Human rights are not negotiable! And this must have general validity – across political and national borders.
We had the opportunity to hear from Qelbinur Sidik, an eyewitness of the crimes in Xinjiang, who has seen with her own eyes what happens to people in the camps: Torture and murder. I also spoke with my colleagues from the Parliament and Bundestag as well as Xinjiang expert Dr. Adrian Zenz about forced labor, mass imprisonment, state surveillance and forced sterilization of Uyghur women.
