Building the Europe of the Future Together
The Cultural Revival Dialog – Zagreb 2008
The website http://WiKeyPoDia.org
About the Project: “The future will either be the inspired product of a great cultural revival, or there will be no future,” wrote Aurelio Peccei, founder and first President of the Club of Rome, in 1981. And Albert Einstein’s familiar observation, that we cannot solve our problems by thinking in the same way as we did when we created them, expresses a similar idea, ie: that typical contemporary issues, be they global, such as environmental degradation, or local, such as the rising costs of healthcare, can only be solved by a new way of acting and thinking.
The question remains: how will this abstract and latent possibility – that of finding and following a new direction – be brought about in practical terms?
The key point dialogue is a technique developed at the University of Oslo, whose purpose is to facilitate such development. The goal of a key point dialogue is to discover the ‘key point’—an insight that is sufficiently strong and profound to initiate ‘a great cultural revival’.
To ignite and energize the dialogue we have organiseda an inter-cultural meeting where we invited Master Li Jun Feng, the Headmaster of Sheng Zhen Qigong, and his daughter Li Jing, who introduced us to an uncommon way of acting and thinking. The works of quantum physicist Werner Heisenberg, futurologist Aurelio Peccei, medical researcher Werner Kollath and author and social critic Aldous Huxley provided a suitable context for this meeting of world views, which allowed us to embed our guests’ seemingly esoteric ideas in contemporary, mainly scientific thinking. Insights into the practice of Sheng Zhen Qigong, of which our guests are the most respected teachers, broadened our understanding of human and cultural possibilities that may now be available to us.
The dialogue goes through four stages called Awareness, Responsibility, Freedom and Renaissance, during which all of us had the opportunity to share related thoughts, experiences, reservations or enthusiasm. The messages and impulses created in our dialogue will subsequently spread and grow in Croatia and worldwide through Internet and other media.
