European Parliament


This week, MEPs will be working outside the European Parliament, either in their respective constituencies or in Parliamentary delegations. Parliament will resume its activities in January 2022.

Council of Ministers


Monday 20 December

Environment Council
Ministers will be invited to take note of a progress report on the ‘Fit for 55’ package, and will hold an exchange of views on the EU soil strategy for 2030. The presidency will report on the state of play of discussions on the batteries and waste batteries legislation; recent events about the role of cities in the green transition and the reform of the REACH framework; recent international meetings, including the United Nations climate summit COP26 and the ministerial segment of the UN biodiversity conference COP15. France will present the work programme of its incoming presidency.

Monday 20 December

Gentiloni participates in the Conference of Italian Ambassadors
Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni will participate in the Conference of Italian Ambassadors in Rome, Italy.

Sinkevičius meets with UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNEP
Commissioner Virginijus Sinkevičius will meet with Ms Inger Andersen, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNEP.

Wednesday 22 December

College meeting
The College of Commissioners will convene to discuss the Own resources package, an Initiative to fight the use of shell entities and a Proposal on implementation of the OECD global agreement on minimum effective taxation with President Ursula von der Leyen, Commissioner Johannes Hahn and Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis.

Commissioner Didier Reynders will hold a videoconference call with Ms. Helen McEntee, Irish Minister of Justice.
