The meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council for foreign trade ministers and the relevant commissioner will be an opportunity to discuss trade issues and the main priorities of trade policy in advance of the formal meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council (Trade), which will take place in the second part of the presidency.

This informal ministerial meeting will bring together the 27 ministers responsible for labour, employment, and social affairs. Participants will discuss the working themes of the French Presidency of the Council of the EU, and in particular the impact of climate change and digitalisation on the labour market.

European Union – African Union Summit
The leaders of the EU and the African Union (AU) as well as of their respective member states will meet for the sixth European Union – African Union summit in Brussels on 17 and 18 February 2022. Leaders are expected to discuss how both continents can build greater prosperity. The summit will present a unique opportunity to lay the foundations for a renewed and deeper AU-EU partnership with the highest political involvement and based on trust and a clear understanding of mutual interests. Leaders are expected to discuss how both continents can build greater prosperity. The aim is to launch an ambitious Africa-Europe Investment Package, taking into account global challenges such as climate change and the current health crisis. They should also be talking about tools and solutions to promote stability and security through a renewed peace and security architecture.

Extraordinary Meeting of the Workers’ Group
During the afternoon session, the Just and Sustainable Economy Package will be discussed, including both communications about Decent Jobs and Job Quality, and Sustainable Corporate Governance. They will be introduced by the French Presidency and presented by the European Commission and Eurofound representatives. 

Remote public hearing on working conditions of Platform Workers Package
In order to prepare its opinion on the Working Conditions of Platform Workers’ proposals by the European Commission, the EESC is organising a remote public hearing on 18 February 2022. The aim of the event is to discuss the proposal and gather input from other EU Institutions, civil society, social partners and health professionals, which will feed into the EESC’s opinion.

11th SEDEC commission meeting
The meeting agenda includes the approval of the SEDEC Work Programme for 2022, first discussion and adoption of the opinions on “New European Bauhaus Beautiful, Sustainable, Together”, European Missions, exchange of views on the opinions on the EU Strategy on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life , and improving working conditions in platform work.

Realizing Gender Equality in the Parliament of Tajikistan
ODIHR is organizing a workshop in Tajikistan as part of its work to promote gender-sensitive parliaments that deliver for all women in men in societies across the OSCE region.

First National Conference on Preventing and Combating Illicit Trafficking in Weapons, Ammunition and Explosives in all its Aspects
The purpose of this Conference is to establish a co-ordination platform on implementing a joint strategic approach to preventing and combating the illicit trafficking in weapons, ammunition and explosives (WAE) in Ukraine.
The discussion will refer to topics of high relevance to the Ukrainian context, requiring consideration of joint co-ordination efforts. Best international practices to be discussed within the conference, as well as further steps on fostering co-operation among national stakeholders in the field of preventing and combating illicit trafficking in WAE. The Conference will bring together representatives from Ukrainian state authorities, think tanks, the donor community and international partner organizations.

This workshop aims to raise awareness of members of the OSCE Police Academies Network (PAN) about the Principles on Effective Interviewing for Investigations and Information Gathering – also known as the Méndez Principles – and their relevance for law enforcement investigative work.
