Council of Ministers
Monday 14 March
Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council
EU social affairs ministers will discuss how to improve the gender balance in the boardroom. Ministers will seek to agree on a general approach regarding the proposed directive on the gender balance on corporate boards. Ministers will also review the annual European Semester. Ministers will also discuss conclusions on annual sustainable growth with the aim to adopt these conclusions. Ministers will also discuss the draft Joint Employment Report for 2022 with a view to adoption. Ministers will hold a policy debate on discrimination in employment. Any other business will include information provided by the presidency on the upcoming Social Tripartite Summit.
Eurogroup
Ministers will discuss fiscal policy coordination for 2023, with a view to safeguarding the economic recovery in the euro area. The Eurogroup will also take stock of the economic situation arising from Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine and other key macroeconomic developments having influence on budgetary planning for 2023. They will also discuss the thirteenth enhanced surveillance report on Greece, as well as the way forward to agree on a work plan for all outstanding elements of the Banking Union, ahead of the March Euro Summit. The Eurogroup will also prepare the Euro Summit that will take place on 24-25 March 2022.

The Economic and Financial Affairs Council will gather to discuss the EU budget as well as economic recovery.
Informal video conference of ministers of health
The ministers of health will gather in an informal video conference meeting.
Thursday 17 March
Environment Council
EU environment ministers will seek agreement on a general approach on a new regulation on batteries and waste batteries. The Council will hold a policy debate on the five files of the ‘Fit for 55’ legislative package, which fall under the remit of the Environment Council. Ministers will also exchange views on the process of ensuring that the macroeconomic policies within the European Semester are sustainable.
Thursday 17 March – Friday 18 March
Informal ministerial conference of tourism ministers
During this meeting, which will address European tourism within Europe, the tourism ministers for the 27 EU Member States will discuss the transformation of tourism in the context of the post-COVID-19 recovery and the role of Member States in supporting this industry. The European Commission will also contribute to this conference and present the final version of the transition pathway for tourism.

The European Economic and Social Committee’s NAT and INT Sections, the Fair Trade Advocacy Office and the Global Competition Law Centre of the College of Europewill organise an online conference to continue the debate on how joint sustainability initiatives can be competition law compliant.

The conference “What competitiveness will look like in the new European growth model” organised by the Employers’ Group will try to answer the questions “How do we achieve a Europe that reconciles the paradox between growth and prosperity on the one hand, and a sustainable future for our planet on the other? How can we guarantee the competitiveness of our companies in this just transition?”.

Civil Society Days 2022
The EESC will be holding its annual Civil Society Days in March 2022. This flagship civil society conference will bring together citizens, organised civil society and European institutions in an inclusive process to address the major societal challenges the EU currently faces in shaping its future.

Ministerial Conference on the Mental Health of Vulnerable Young People
As much a public health as societal issue, the mental health of children, adolescents and young adults in vulnerable situations requires the development of cross-cutting solutions. At this conference of Trio ministers, experts will first formulate proposals for action, then consider which European instruments to mobilise in order to lay the foundations for a European action plan.
Tuesday 15 March
Linguistic diversity and the French language in the European institutions
This conference will focus on the challenges of linguistic diversity in Europe and its role in the creation of European citizenship. The representatives of Member States, the European institutions and civil society will meet during panel discussions. The participants will address several topics, particularly the promotion of multilingualism within the European institutions and reflection on language learning. Operational conclusions and potential solutions will be presented upon conclusion of the discussions, in order to capitalize on this work in the long term.
