Towards a Europe free of violence against women
In order to prepare its opinion on the Commission proposal for a directive on combating violence against women and domestic violence, the EESC is organising a hybrid public hearing on 21 April 2022. The aim of the event is to gather input from civil society, including social partners and academia as well other EU Institutions and international organisations.
Consultation of the CSOs on the topic of the European Migration Forum
As in previous years, the Bureau of the European Migration Forum has decided to organise a consultation with civil society on the topic of the next Forum. This consultation consists of a survey and a virtual meeting on 21 April. The virtual meeting will take place on the occasion of the next meeting of the EESC Immigration and Integration Group (IMI) on 21 April. All civil society organisations interested in the Forum will be welcome to attend this virtual consultation.
Tackling energy poverty at the heart of the ecological and energy transition
The EESC conference, organised with the support of the French Presidency of the EU, on “Tackling energy poverty at the heart of the ecological and energy transition” will be held on 21 April 2022. This is the follow-up event to the EESC’s 2021 conference on “Energy poverty at the crossroads of the European Pillar of Social Rights and the European Green Deal”. The 2022 conference will focus on how to tackle energy poverty in the perspective of a socially fair and just transition towards a climate-neutral Union by 2050. This conference aims to contribute to the ongoing discussion on how to best tackle this major social problem and to ensure civil society views are taken into account.

Meeting on the stabilization of the Horn of Africa
One year after the adoption by the European Union of a strategy for the Horn of Africa, the senior officials meeting for the stabilization of the Horn will be an opportunity to take stock of the implementation of this strategy, as Ethiopia and Sudan have since experienced upheavals. This meeting will also provide an opportunity to promote Europe’s positions again, at a time of political changes in the region.

Information meeting of the Working Party on Trade Questions
The Working Party on Trade Questions (WPTQ) is a preparatory body of the Council with responsibility for negotiating legislative instruments relating to trade that are adopted under the ordinary legislative procedure. It also has responsibility for monitoring industrial sectors under the European common commercial policy.

Symposium on Data Access
The digitalisation of means of communication and their encryption give rise to numerous legal and operational challenges, in particular in terms of striking a balance between the confidentiality of exchanges and the protection of personal data on the one hand, and security on the other. This symposium will bring together representatives of the Member States, the European institutions and the agencies concerned. The work undertaken will build on the most recent rulings of the Court of Justice of the European Union and on the work carried out in this area by the Council of the EU and the European Commission in recent years.
Meeting of Research and Environment Directors
This seminar will bring together high-level scientists to discuss environmental research strategy. The participants will address several topics, including sustainability science, the interdisciplinary mobilisation of research and expert communities, and the transmission, development and dissemination of scientific culture (which includes academic knowledge as well as knowledge from citizens). The event will cover cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary research approaches. In particular, these approaches concern resilience, earth observation and the impact of climate change, as well as the North-South interfaces. Round table discussions on governance, innovative practices and the role of the European Union on the international scene will constitute key moments of the day.
Information Systems Directors Meeting
This meeting of the informal network of European information systems directors will address the digital transformation of public administrations and review the commitments made in December 2020 under the Berlin Declaration.

European Medicines Agencies Co-operation of Legal and Legislative Issues (EMACOLEX)
The European Medicines Agencies Co-operation of Legal and Legislative Issues (EMACOLEX) is an informal working group of the Heads of Medicines Agencies (HMA) network. It brings together legal and regulatory experts, in particular those from competent national authorities in the European Union, as well as representatives of the European Medicines Agency and of the European Commission.
EMACOLEX facilitates discussions and cooperation between the Member States on legal and legislative issues concerning medicinal products.

Informal meeting of Strategic Affairs Directors on non-proliferation (CONOP)
This meeting traditionally takes stock of the work undertaken in the previous year in the areas of non-proliferation, disarmament and arms control.
The Strategic Affairs Directors of the Member States’ Foreign Ministries will discuss EU priorities in the areas of: proliferation crises, the New START Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty between the United States and Russia which was extended in 2021, the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), export control regimes, space security, small arms and light weapons (SALW), etc.

Investment as a springboard for change
The European Investment Bank, the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology and the Warsaw Stock Exchange are hosting the seminar “Investment as a springboard for change.” This seminar will focus on investment needs and priorities for Poland and what it takes to use the economic recovery as a springboard for change and transition to a more digital and greener economy. It will bring together a group of economists, policymakers, as well as representatives from financial institutions and the business community. After the opening remarks, the results of the EIB Investment survey for Poland will be presented, followed by a high-level panel focusing on investment dynamics and investment gaps in Poland.
