For the duration of the Lisbon referendum campaign in Ireland, Pat Cox has stepped down as President of the European Movement International (EMI). Mr Cox will focus on campaigning for the newly formed “Ireland for Europe” group (www.irelandforeurope.ie) that promotes a YES for the Lisbon Treaty.

The Federal Assembly of the European Movement International which took place on the 20th of June 2009 appointed Charles-Ferdinand Nothomb (Curriculum Vitae) as acting President with effect from 21st of June 2009 until the close of poll of the referendum in Ireland.
