On Thursday 1 October, the Board of the European Movement International met at the College of Europe Versversdijk campus to discuss upcoming plans and projects.

Aside from its status as a Supporting Member of the European Movement International, the College of Europe shares a long history with the European Movement International. Both institutions can trace their origins back to the Congress of the Hague in 1948. The Congress collected together many important voices in post-war Europe and it was one of the principle moments within the post-war reconstruction in setting up a strong and stable Europe.

At its meeting the Board of the European Movement International received an address from the Rector of the College, Mr Jörg Monar, and met with several members of the College’s academic staff at a lunchtime networking session. Mr Monar spoke to the importance of lateral cooperation and maintaining a strong partnership.

The discussion at the European Movement Board plenary session, which was also attended by staff from the Secretariat, focussed on the Movement’s positions on different topics (EMU, Democracy, Security, Migration) as well as covering important issues on the membership and financial topics.
