The European Movement Croatia would like to announce that Natasa Owens has been elected President of the European Movement Croatia.

Mrs. Owens, Attorney at Law, has been active in the European Movement Croatia for 11 years. During this time she has held the position of the President of the Supervisory board, Vice President and the President of the Executive board. In addition she is also currently Vice President of the European Movement International.

On accepting the position of President, Mrs. Owens said: “Our greatest achievement so far has been successful accession to the European Union after a long and challenging candidacy. There are more challenges ahead and not only for Croatia but for this region and the wider Union. Croatia’s experiences during the integration process will be very useful to neighboring candidate countries.

I believe that developing more European co-operation whilst enhancing the role of civil society will help to meet the challenges faced by the Union. We have seen that we require EU consensus and co-operation on current issues such as migration and security. Looking ahead, environmental issues and renewable energy policy will also require developing more cross border co-operation to be really effective.“
