ALDA: European Development Days Workshop

“Localising the Sustainable Development Goals: Owning the global development agenda”

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are entering into the implementation phase, which requires a number of actions, including developing action plans, monitoring and engagement. The involvement of all stakeholders of the quadruple helix (the public and private sectors, academia and civil society), together with citizens, is crucial. Raising awareness and creating engagement for development is essential.

The LADDER project is an example of good practice. It demonstrates that local authorities and civil society working at local level act as multipliers and can create change to improve the life of citizens. This session will address the implementation of the SDGs from a local perspective using a multi-stakeholder approach, engaging all relevant actors and discussing opportunities and challenges.

We aim to provide a stimulating intellectual discussion. The workshop will be moderated by Antonella Valmorbida, Secretary General of ALDA. Among the panellists: Jacopo Barbati, Member of the Executive Board of Young European Federalists Europe; Fabio Masini, Secretary General, European Movement Italy and Professor at the University of Roma Tre; Abbas Sbeity, Young Leader – Inclusive, Sustainable and Resilient Cities from Lebanon; Gemma Aguado, UNDP ART Programme Analyst, United Nations Development Programme.
