The European Alliance of Initiatives for Applied Anthroposophy (ELIANT) has the pleasure to invite you to its international conference in Brussels ‘Freedom of Choice Under Threat: What Can European Citizens Do?’, coinciding with its 10th anniversary.

About us:
ELIANT is an alliance of 10 European associations of applied anthroposophy set up in 2006 in support of citizens’ freedom and availability of choices in a wide range of areas, including agriculture, nutrition, medicine and health, education and research.

Inspired by the European Citizens’ Initiative before it became operational, ELIANT was the first organisation to collect over 1 million signatures calling for a greater variety and availability of choices in 2011. The signatures were presented to Commissioner for Health and Consumers John Dalli together with a Memorandum with 15 requests for action in the above-mentioned fields.

About the Conference:
Article 2 of the Treaty of the European Union recalls the values upon which the Union is founded. These encompass, among others, freedom, pluralism and the rights of persons belonging to minorities. In order to fulfil these rights and values the variety of choices in each area of life has to be respected and promoted, including by Law. ELIANT contends that freedom of choice is only possible when matched with actual availability of choices.

The Conference will bring together key experts in the different fields of work of ELIANT around 6 parallel workshops. Concrete examples will be presented on how ELIANT contributes to a greater availability of choices for the benefit of European citizens, and what citizens can do to support this goal.

This Conference is organised by ELIANT, with the support of ECAS.
