As the EU ponders its future, the question of how to finance its budget is central in efforts to achieve an efficient and effective EU.
The European Movement International held a Breakfast Briefing at the margins of the Interinstitutional Conference on the Future Financing of the European Union to discuss how best to finance the EU budget and explore all possible options.
Vice President of the European Commission, Kristalina Georgieva and Chairman of the High Level Group on Own Resources, Mario Monti, joined senior representatives from businesses, trade unions, NGOs, civil society, think-tanks and academia to debate their vision of the EU’s financing, with a focus on own resources and how to Europeanise the process and create a direct link between the citizens and the EU.
