Warm up to Paris

Ahead of the COP21 negotiations taking place in Paris at the end of November, the European Movement International will be organising a stakeholders’ meeting in Brussels to facilitate contacts and exchange of ideas between organisations involved or interested in climate action.
Participants will be invited to join 4 thematic tables headed by one organisation specialised in the field:
Divestment Campaign – Frank Vanaerschot, Campaigner, FairFin
Fiscal reform – James Nix, Director, Green Budget Europe
Action at local level – Carsten Rothballer, Coordinator, ICLEI
Renewable energies – Jo Leinen, President, European Movement International
Discussions will centre on how civil society can contribute to climate action and to the implementation of the COP21 results. Participants will be free to move from one table to the other while enjoying drinks and finger food. At the end of the discussion time, the 4 table leaders will give a short report on the ideas resulting from the exchange with the stakeholders.
The debate will be introduced by Jo Leinen, MEP, President of the European Movement International
As the largest pan-European civil society organisation, the European Movement is keen to support the work of CSOs across Europe in the fight against climate change. We believe that the involvement of civil society and local communities in climate action is the key to success.
