UEF & JEF: “The Future of Schengen – Failures, Challenges and Perspectives”

The final programme for the event “The Future of Schengen: Failures, Challenges and Perspectives” to be held in Luxembourg on Saturday 16 April is now available to download in English and French.

The debate will be organised in two consecutive sessions, where the federalist perspective will be confronted with the current threats to the Schengen Agreement, the management of the EU common external borders, and the main challenges facing the European integration project today:

  • The costs of non-Schengen: how the re-establishment of internal border controls threatens the economic, social and political future of the European Union;
  • Schengen and the EU external border: how migration flows from outside the European Union challenge the limits of Schengen and the future of the European foreign and defence policy.
