The European Movement International, together with the European Movement Austria, are holding a panel discussion on “What Future for Europe? Climate & Energy Crisis – What can the EU do?”. This event will be held in Vienna, at the Penthouse Hotel Topaz Lamée, on 14 December 2022 from 18.00 to 19.30 CET, then followed by a reception.

The European Union is faced with a multitude of challenges of global proportions. This event is part of series which aims to discuss those challenges from a European and national perspective, by gathering together stakeholders and policy-makers and by looking at what the EU’s response should be.

While the EU has taken ambitious initiatives in an effort to respond to the climate crisis the world is faced with, the war in Ukraine has exacerbated the emergence of an acute energy crisis, widening Europe’s social divides even further.
This event will consider how are the climate and energy crisis impacting Europe, but also how the war influences the EU’s environmental policies and how the EU’s efforts to mitigate the effects of the climate crisis shapes its response to the energy crisis.

Die Europäische Bewegung Österreich (EBÖ) veranstaltet gemeinsam mit European Movement International (EMI) eine Podiumsdiskussion zum Thema „What Future for Europe? Die Klima- und Energiekrise – Was kann die EU tun?“. Diese Veranstaltung findet am 14. Dezember 2022 von 18.00 bis 19.30 Uhr im Penthouse Hotel Topazz Lamée in Wien mit anschließendem Networking-Empfang statt.

Die Europäische Union steht vor einer Vielzahl von geopolitischen Herausforderungen. Dieser Event der EBÖ ist Teil einer internationalen Veranstaltungsreihe von EMI, die darauf abzielt, diese Herausforderungen aus europäischer und nationaler Perspektive zu beleuchten, indem Interessengruppen und politische Entscheidungsträger:innen zusammengebracht und mögliche europäische Lösungeen diskutiert werden.

Die EU hat ambitionierte Initiativen gegen die Klimakrise gesetzt, ist aufgrund von Russlands Krieg gegen die Ukraine auch mit einer Verschärfung der Energiekrise konfrontiert. Wie beeinflusst der Krieg die Umweltpolitik der EU? Wie wirkt sich die Klima- und Energiekrise nicht zuletzt auch in sozialer Hinsicht aus? Welche europäischen Antworten auf die Energiekrise sind notwendig? Das sind nur einige der Fragen, die bei der Veranstaltung diskutiert werden.
