Traineeship opportunity at the European Movement International – EU Affairs Student Trainee

The European Movement International offers an ongoing traineeship programme aimed at students that want to gain hands-on experience with a Brussels-based network of pro-European organisations. We are able to host students for 3-6 months between September and July.

The European Movement is a pan-European, pro-European organisation, present in 34 countries and encompassing over 79 member organisations. We believe in closer European integration and work across our continent to involve Europeans in the great debates of our time, inform policy-makers’ thinking and influence the direction the EU takes. As EU Affairs Trainee, you will have the opportunity to support all the European Movement’s areas of work, by contributing to our policy and advocacy work, assisting with the organisation of events and drafting and editing content for our communication channels.

Roles and Responsibilities
We are looking for a proactive and highly motivated individual who is keen to help in the following areas:

Research

  • Preparation of EU news updates and a weekly institutional agenda for members
  • Assist with research and writing of European Movement policy positions
  • Monitoring of developments in the policy areas covered by the European Movement
  • Working on new policy positions and policy-focused newsletters

Events

  • Provide logistical and organisational support ahead of European Movement events
  • Support European Movement communications activities around events

Communications

  • Edit and provide content for the European Movement website
  • Assist with creating content for social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn), including infographics and short videos

Moreover, the traineeship can be adapted to your interests, skill set and needs and you will have the opportunity to contribute with new ideas to the way we work. In addition, you may be asked to accompany the team on trips abroad to other European Movement offices.

Eligibility and requirements

  • Student status
  • An interest in EU Affairs
  • Strong analytical and writing skills in English (additional languages are an asset)
  • Good organisational skills and an ability to cope with fast-changing environments
  • Eligibility to live and work in Belgium

Remuneration
Please note that there is no budget foreseen for this position. Candidates are required to be in full-time education at the time of their application, and fulfilling a work placement requirement at university, with funding such as an Erasmus+ (etc.) available to cover their traineeship. Monthly public transport travel costs in Brussels and insurance are covered by the European Movement International.
