ACCA: ACCA calls on the UK government to offer flexibility to support businesses experiencing Covid-19 disruption
ACCA has today called on the UK government to offer greater support to UK businesses trying to mitigate the disruption Covid-19 outbreak.
ACCA’s recommendations include greater flexibility from HMRC with ‘time to pay’ interventions, extending recognition of home worker allowances, and measures to ensure apprentices and students can continue to learn.
ACCA believes these measures would boost certainty for the broader UK business base. Greater support and flexibility would enable financial professionals and accountancy practitioners to meet businesses day-to-day accounting needs, as well as, emergency business and financial advice and planning during disruptive periods.
ACCA members will continue to play a key role in assessing the financial implications and risks of the Covid-19, helping to guide organisations through the challenges, and playing a key role in business continuity. This is an important part of the public value demonstrated by the profession – providing leadership in challenging circumstances.
Helen Brand, chief executive of ACCA said: ‘There is an opportunity for the government to act early to intercept the imminent turbulence for many UK businesses.
