ALDA: A capacity-building for refugee women taking the lead for a news Syria
Self-confidence and political knowledge are important skills in order to carve out a space in today’s society. Especially if you are a woman. Especially if you are a refugee.
From September 20th to 23rd our expert trainers went to Beirut, in Lebanon, to deliver a capacity building to a group of Syrian refugees in the frame of the initiative ”Syrian women taking the lead‘.
The programme started last year and is guided by Elbarlament in cooperation with the Lebanese NGO “Women Now for Development”, which can already claim the empowerment of a significant group of women.
This training was attended by 15 women and it focused on the rule of law, the constitution, the role of the opposition in a government and the cooperation between the civil society and the State. The whole learning process is addressed to refugee women (especially Syrian) currently living in Lebanon, in view of their future involvement of the women, and the civil society in general, in the re-building process of their home country.
