Some extra info about the record breaking unanimous 4 minute Brexit Summit? Obviously most people were hoping for just that on Tuesday morning, the 2nd of May, when they attended EM Germany’s EBD De-Briefing on the European Council. Our event room was packed and they weren’t disappointed. Indeed, Martin Kotthaus (German Foreign Office) and Richard N. Kühnel (Representation of the EU Commission in Germany) did give some more insight into the guidelines the EU27 had agreed on for the Brexit negotiations. They explained next steps and responsibilities – and they were ready to answer questions like “What happens if there won’t be an agreement until 2019?” One of the answers was: “Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst!”
