Rome, May 23rd, 2016: The Austrian citizens have elected Alexander van Der Bellen at the end of two votes having a European meaning.

The election of the European and pro-European candidate is a very positive signal and the European movement in Italy will study in the next weeks the political and cultural reasons of this election as well as the reasons of the 3200000 votes for Hofer.

The European movement in Italy underlines the clear victory in Wien (63%) and the success in Tyrol, once on the border between Austria and Italy and now a European region.

With this election the pro-European movement has now a new strong support in its fight for a united Europe based on democracy and solidarity.
