As the new PNL-led government of Prime Minister Ludovic Orban was today approved by the Romanian parliament, the President of the European People’s Party (EPP) Joseph Daul made the following statement:

“I would like to congratulate Prime Minister Ludovic Orban on taking office and putting in place a credible, responsible and a pro-European government. I would also like to commend Prime Minister Ludovic Orban’s courage and determination for making what previously seemed impossible, possible: that of giving the Romanians a centre-right government. I believe with this PNL-led government, he is giving Romania a new start and bringing hope to all his citizens.

Prime Minister Ludovic Orban will now face the difficult task of correcting the damage inflicted on the country by the Socialist government. For years democratic standards were weakened, the rule of law ignored, and the reputation of Romania in Europe suffered. However, the EPP member parties remain willing to assume their responsibility and Prime Minister Ludovic Orban is up for the challenge to deliver again for all its people.
