Europa Nostra: Good practices catalogue of 32 local and regional success stories published
Within Cultural Heritage in Action, the EU-funded peer-learning programme for cities and regions, Europa Nostra together with other 4 Consortium partners have just published an online Catalogue of 32 local heritage practices from 23 countries, which are innovative, inspiring for other cities and regions, and have a real impact on the ground.
Following an open call for good practices, the Cultural Heritage in Action Consortium, has gathered 32 examples of innovative practices focusing on participatory governance, re-use of heritage buildings and quality of interventions of cultural heritage.
The introduction to the Catalogue features a powerful message by Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth. In it, Commissioner Gabriel recalls that “Investing in cultural heritage is strategic for cities and regions; it supports greater social cohesion and citizens’ participation (…) What can be learnt from their experience? Can best practices be transferred to other local contexts?,” she asks.
Cultural heritage, whether tangible or intangible, ranks high in the strategic priorities of European cities and regions. From large-scale projects to small models, from structures to events, investments in cultural heritage are powerful for urban regeneration, for territorial cohesion and for social inclusion.
