European Movement International’s Key Recommendations to the Conference on the Future of Europe

During the 12 months that the Conference on the Future of Europe deliberated, the European Movement took an active part in the Plenaries and the Working Groups, engaging with citizens representatives, national and European Parliamentarians, Social Partners, local and regional representatives and organised civil society at large.

Echoing our policy positions adopted by our member organisations and taking into account the recommendations of the European citizens’ panels, here are our thematic proposals for the Conference on the Future of Europe:

European Democracy, Values and Rights, Rule of Law, Security

European citizens’ recommendations ask for a more active citizen participation in the European democratic process. Echoing that sentiment, we call for the Conference to promote a democratic and participatory Europe based on the respect for the rule of law and the EU’s fundamental values.
