New Executive Director at European Movement Ireland
As the sun shines down and we all get ready for a long Easter weekend, we would like to let you know our good news. We are pleased to let you know that Noelle O’Connell has been appointed the new Executive Director of European Movement Ireland. Noelle takes over the position from Andrea Pappin who acted as Executive Director of the Organisation from June 2008 until March 2011. As you are aware, Noelle’s appointment comes at a time when Ireland’s relationship with the EU is being firmly placed front and centre, both in the Irish media and in the minds of Irish citizens.
Noelle has said that she is “delighted to have been appointed to the role of Executive Director of European Movement Ireland. Ireland’s relationship with Europe is at a critical juncture and I look forward to the challenge of continuing the campaign of making the connection between Irish people and the EU.”
Chairman of the Board of European Movement Ireland, Maurice Pratt, welcomed the new Executive Director saying, “I am delighted that Noelle has joined the European Movement as our new Executive Director. Her broad experience of European affairs together with her commercial acumen will be a great asset to the Movement in the challenges that lie ahead.”
Noelle comes to the position from a background in training, education and public affairs consultancy and business coaching, having formerly acted as the Head of Training, Education and Business Development with the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) and as a former Director on the Board of Skillnets. She has also held management consultancy positions in Accenture. Noelle has worked for the Irish Co-operative Organisation Society and also worked in the Irish Embassy in Paris. She is a Fellow of the Irish Institute of Training and Development and an Associate member of CIPD.
And there is more good news… With 9 May fast approaching we would like to invite you to join us in our celebration of Europe Day 2011. Below you’ll find a ‘Save the Date’ containing all the details of the event we have planned. An excellent chance to catch up with the EM Ireland network, this Europe Day celebration is also a great opportunity for members and non-members alike to meet our new Executive Director in person. We do hope to see you there!
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions or comments you may have.
