The “European Common Good” – issue of CIFE’s annual research symposium

CIFE (Centre international de formation européenne)* organises the 2015 symposium of its Research department, on 21 and 22 May in Brussels. This year, the issue is “Towards a European Common Good”. The first session will deal with the definition and conceptual matrix of Common Good, its philosophical sources and its meaning in the context of European unity. The second session will consider the dividing line between Common Good and Public Good based on an economic analysis of the European project. The participants will also reflect on the outlooks as to promoting a new development model based on the Common Good.

The opening speech will be given by CIFE’s President, Philippe Maystadt (former Vice-Prime Minister of Belgium and former President of the European Investment Bank). Other important speakers include: Jean Baechler, Professor emeritus at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne, Member of the ‘Institut de France’ as well as Jacques Le Cacheux, Professor at the University of Pau.

The programme can be found here.
