Plenary Session
Debates: There will be debates on the State of the SMEs Union; the Competition policy – annual report 2020; EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030: Bringing nature back into our lives; and Establishing the instrument for financial support for customs control equipment. There will also be a presentation on the gender dimension in Cohesion Policy.
Votes: There will be votes on the Transitional provisions of certain machinery fitted with engines in the power range between 56kW and 130kW, and above 300kW in order to address the impact of COVID-19 crisis; ETIAS consequential amendments: police and judicial cooperation, borders and visa, and ECRIS-TCN; and the Mobilisation of the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund: applications

Debates: There will be debates on the EU Digital COVID Certificate; Council and Commission statements – European Parliaments Scrutiny on the ongoing assessment by the Commission and the Council of the national recovery and resilience plans; Commission statement – State of play of the implementation of the Own Resources roadmap; Council and Commission statements – Systematic repression in Belarus and its consequences for European security following abductions from an EU civilian plane intercepted by Belarusian authorities; The situation in Afghanistan; Human rights and political situation in Cuba; Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument 2021-2027 – Global Europe; the 75th and the 76th sessions of the United Nations General Assembly; European Social Fund Plus 2021-2027; Parliament’s rights of inquiry; and Climate resilient EU fisheries & aquaculture
Votes: There will be votes on amendments to the Competition policy – annual report 2020; The gender dimension in Cohesion Policy; and EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030: Binging nature back into our lives. There will also be votes on ETIAS consequential amendments: ECRIS-TCN; and the 75th and the 76th sessions of the United Nations General Assembly.

Debates: There will be debates on the European Council and the Commission statements re: Conclusions of the special meeting of the European Council on 24 and 25 May 2021; Preparation of the G7 summit of 11-13 June and the EU-US Summit; Rule of Law situation in the European Union and the application of the conditionality regulation 2020/2092; Follow-up of the Porto Social Summit 7 May 2021; Cyberattacks in the EU: Council and Commission statements – Recent Cyberattacks on Eu institutions and on sensitive national public and private institutions, and The EU’s Cybersecurity Strategy for the Digital Decade; Regulations and general conditions governing the performance of the Ombudsman’s duties; and Commission statement on The 80th Anniversary of 14-18 June 1941 Mass Deportations.
Votes:
There will be votes on Establishing the instrument for finical support for customs control equipment; International Cooperation Instrument 2021-2027 – Global Europe; European Social Fund Plus 2021 2027; Motions for resolutions – The conflict of interest of the Prime Minster of the Czech Republic; Meeting the Global Covid-19 challenge: effects of waiver of the WTO TRIPS agreement on Covid-19 vaccines, treatment, equipment and increasing production and manufacturing capacity in developing countries; The EU’s Cybersecurity Strategy for the Digital Decade; Rule of Law situation in the European Union and the application of the conditionality regulation 2020/2092; European Parliament’s Scrutiny on the ongoing assessment by the Commission and the Council of the national recovery and resilience plans. There will also be votes on the objection pursuant to Rule 112(2) and (3): Maximum residue limit for imidacloprid, and Active substances, including flumioxazine.

Thursday 10 June

Plenary Session
Debates: There will be debates on the European Citizens’ Initiative “End the cage age”; Future EU financing of the radio network Euranet Plus; and Autism and inclusive employment. There will also be debates on cases of breaches of human rights, democracy and the rule of law re: Breach of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child and the use of minors by the Moroccan authorities in the migratory crisis in Ceuta; The situation in Sri Lanka, in particular the arrests under the Prevention of Terrorism Act; The listing of German NGOs as ‘undesirable organisations’ by Russia and the detention of Andrei Pivivarov.

Friday 11 – Sunday 13 June

G7 Summit
The UK G7 Presidency will host the G7 Summit from from 11th – 13th June in Cornwall. The summit will focus on uniting leading democracies to help the world combat and build back better from the coronavirus pandemic, as well as focusing on creating a greener and more prosperous future.

Council of Ministers

Monday 7 – Tuesday 8 June

Justice and Home Affairs Council
EU justice ministers will meet on Monday to discuss combating illegal online content, assignment claims, e-justice, fundamental rights, and the protection of vulnerable adults. On Tuesday EU home affairs ministers will discuss the fight against crime and terrorism, resilience of critical entities, migration and asylum, and the Schengen Area.

Thursday 10 June

Environment Council
EU environment minsters will meet to discuss the strategy on climate change adaptation, batteries and waste batteries, and zero pollution. Ministers will also be provided an update on the Aarhus regulation and the 8th environment action programme from the the presidency.

Friday 11 June

Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (Energy)
EU energy minister will meet to discuss the TEN-E regulations, the hydrogen strategy and the renovation wave strategy. Ministers will also be informed on recent development in external energy relations. The Slovenian delegation will present their work programme for its upcoming presidency.

This week the college will discuss the Draft General Budget 2022 as well as the 2020 Annual Management and Performance Report for the EU Budget. The college will also discuss a communication on the performance framework 2021-2027.

Monday 7 June

The path to our industrial future: Updating the new industrial strategy
The EESC are organising a virtual hearing on its opinion on updating the new industrial strategy for Europe. The hearing will contribute to the EESC’s opinion and debate on the policy priorities in terms of strategic autonomy and industrial transformation. It will focus on industrial recovery form the pandemic crisis, Europe’s competitiveness son the global stage and the transition to a green and digital economy.

Friday 11 June

Implementation of the EU action plan for the development of organic production
The EESC are organising an online public hearing in preparation for its opinion ‘Action Plan for the development of EU organic production’ which aims to highlight stakeholders’ views on the proposed EU action Plan and its implementation. The event will discuss how to transform these target into on-the-ground strategies related to organic production and consumptions, and showcase challenges as well as success stories from different regions.

Monday 7 June

ENVE Commission Meeting
The 8th ENVE commission meeting will take place virtually. The debates will focus on the Conference on the Future of Europe, the European Commission’s Work Programme for 2022, and the road from the Climate Law to the Fit for 55 Package. They will also adopt the draft opinions on the Revised Trans-European Infrastructure Regulation fir for the Green and Digital Transition, and Forging a climate-resilient Europe – the new EU Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change. There will also be an exchange of view on Gender equality and Climate change: towards mainstreaming the gender perspective in the European Green Deal.

Portuguese Presidency


Monday 7 June

Leveraging the COVID-19 response to advance research data interoperability
This online conference is organised jointly by the European Commission and the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown the importance of global cooperation and prior data and information sharing.

Tuesday 8 June

New Space Atlantic Summit
The Presidency will launch the European Union Space Programme which will pay particular attention the development of New Space, including the use of space technologies and applications in non-space sectors and public policies, given their impact on European productivity and competitiveness.

2021 Joint EuCNC & 6G Summit
The Presidency along with the European Commission are supporting the European Conference on Networks and Communications and 6G – 2021 EuCNC & 6G Summit.The conference, with the support of the IEEE Communications Society and the European Association for Signal Processing, will look at relevant topics in telecommunications, including communications systems and networks, experimentation and implementation and services and applications in the areas of 5G, mobile IoT and 6G.

Inauguration of the new secondary site of the EDQM
The CoE will open and inaugurate the new secondary site of the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM). It will enable the safe storage of contingency stocks of European Pharmacopoeia reference standards and ensure their distribution worldwide in the event of major incidents at its main site in Strasbourg.

OSCE Parliamentary Assembly


Monday 7 June

National Security Institutions and the Jewish Community in Croatia: Raising Awareness and Building Effective Communication
This online event will raise awareness  among law enforcement officials about Jewish history and culture in Croatia. It also aims to lead to a greater understanding of the contemporary security challenges facing the Jewish community. Furthermore, it looks to facilitate effective and meaningful communication between representatives of the Jewish community and law enforcement authorities in the country.

25th Anniversary Conference: The Hague Recommendation regarding the Education Rights of National Minorities
The Anniversary Conference aims to shed light on the principles in the Hague Recommendations and to reflect on the application of these Recommendations across the OSCE region. It will highlight good practices in multilingual education and how this supports the accessibility of education for national minorities. The High Commissioner believes that a key component of social cohesion is ensuring that all members of society have equal access to high-quality education.

Wednesday 9 June

Political Participation of Persons with Disabilities: First Meeting of OSCE/ODIHR Thematic Group
This coordination meeting is meant to create a forum where staff in OSCE field offices and missions can meet to exchange ideas on topics related to the political participation of persons with disabilities. Participants will also have an opportunity to learn more about ODIHR’s planned activities in this area and be invited to regular coordination meetings and thematic webinars on disability inclusion. 

Thursday 10 June

ODIHR’s Gender Matters series: Affirmative Measures for Women’s Political Participation
This online event is aimed at exchanging ideas and building capacity at all levels within the OSCE. It will discuss how affirmative measures advance women’s political participation, share good practices from OSCE countries and explore possible solutions and OSCE responses.

Thursday 10 – Friday 11 June

Second Preparatory Meeting of the 29th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum
This meeting will focus on economic empowerment of women as an important element in promoting comprehensive security, stability and sustainable development in the OSCE area, and the role of relevant stakeholders in achieving this goal; Promoting women’s entrepreneurship and equal participation in business and in trade; Promoting sustainable development by empowering women and girls as contributors to the protection of the environment
Empowering women in trade and transport facilitation.
