Debates: Commission evaluation report on the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation; the Establishment of an EU Mechanism on Democracy, the Rule of Law and Fundamental Rights; Priorities of the German Presidency in the area of Home Affairs; determination of a clear risk of a serious breach by the Republic of Poland of the rule of law.

Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM)

Committee on Budgets (BUDG)

European Council


Wednesday 15 July

EU-India summit
The summit will be held via video conference. The EU will be represented by Charles Michel and Ursula von der Leyen. India will be represented by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Leaders will discuss global cooperation and solidarity during the COVID-19 pandemic, the EU-India Strategic Partnership, as well as discuss global and regional issues.

Friday 17 July – Saturday 18 July

Special European Council
EU leaders will meet physically in Brussels to discuss the recovery plan to respond to the COVID-19 crisis and a new long-term EU budget.

Council of Ministers


Monday 13 July

Foreign Affairs Council
Chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, the meeting will review recent international developments, and discuss EU relations with Turkey, and Latin America and the Caribbean.

Wednesday 15 July

General Affairs Council (European Affairs)
Ministers for European affairs will convene via video conference and hear a presentation of the priorities of the German presidency for the next six months. They will also prepare for the special European Council meeting on 17-18 July.

Thursday 16 July

Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council
Health ministers of the European Union (EU) and the member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) as well as representatives of the EU Commission and other international and EU organisations will participate in the video conference. Chaired by Germany, the following topics will be discussed: controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, strengthening the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), ensuring the supply of medicinal products within the EU as well as the outlook on the creation of a European Health Data Space.

Friday 17 July

Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council
European employment and social affairs ministers will discuss the contribution of labour-market and social policies to a sustainable recovery from the societal, social and economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
