European Parliament


The committees of the European Parliament will be in recess from 25 July until 22 August. Committee meetings will resume in the week of 29 August.

Council of Ministers


Tuesday 26 July

Extraordinary Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council
Energy ministers will hold an exchange of views on security of energy supply in the EU and further measures to be taken ahead of next winter. Security of energy supply in the EU is at further risk of deteriorating in the wake of the Russian aggression on Ukraine. In this context, the Commission presented the ‘Save gas for a safe winter’  package on 20 July. The package includes a proposal for a regulation on gas demand reduction and a European gas demand reduction plan. Ministers will discuss the initiatives presented by the Commission and brief each other on the current security of energy supply situation in their respective member states.

Commissioner  Didier Reynders will meet with Spanish Minister of Justice Pilar Llop and judges from the “Foro Judicial Independiente” association.

Vice-President Suica will be in Peljesac to deliver a keynote speech for the Opening Ceremony of the Peljesac Bridge.

Thursday 28 July

Gentiloni meets with Director-General of FAO
Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni will meet with Mr QU Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in Rome.

Czech Presidency


Thursday 28 July – Friday 29 July

Informal Meeting of the European Peace Facility Committee
This meeting will be held in Prague to discuss issues of the EPF budget, common costs of military missions and operations, assistance measures for capacity building of partners relating to military and defence matters, and assistance measures to finance military aspects of the partner’s peace support operations.
