Digital Sovereignty of the European Union in the International Arena
European Movement International, in partnership with the European Council on Foreign Relations will host an online panel event ” Digital Sovereignty of the European Union in the International Arena”. The discussion will focus on digital sovereignty of the EU, which is a growing concern among citizens, businesses and Member States.

On the Road to Porto | A Solidarity Action Plan for All Generations
On Wednesday, 28 April 2021, from 10:00 to 13:00 CEST, EMI will co-host a conference to explore the potential of the Social Pillar Action Plan in facing the social and economic challenges of the future and in providing solutions to the Europe’s demographic challenge. The conference is organised in the framework of the EU funded project “ETUC SociAll” and in cooperation with the multi-stakeholder Alliance “Stand Up for the Social Pillar”.

Debates: There will be debates on the conclusions of the European Council and the outcome of the EU and Turkey meeting; Research and Innovation; on the Union Civil Protection Mechanism, Soil protection; and the Multiannual management plan for bluefin tuna in the eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean.
Votes: There will be votes on several requests for waivers of immunity; EU/Norway Agreement: modification of concessions on all the tariff-rate quotas included in the EU Schedule CLXXV as a consequence of the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union; the EU/ Honduras Voluntary Partnership Agreement, the Implementation report on the road safety aspects of the Roadworthiness Package; a motion for a resolution on chemical residues in the Baltic Sea based on petitions 1328/2019 and 0406/2020; the Interinstitutional agreement on mandatory transparency register; more efficient and cleaner maritime transport; and maximum residue levels for certain substances.

Informal video conference of agriculture ministers
Topics to be discussed include the current situation on agricultural markets and trade-related issues. There will also be an exchange views on the state of play of the Common Agricultural Policy reform.

Informal video conference of foreign affairs ministers
EU development ministers will meet in virtual format to hold an orientation debate on the future of the European financial architecture for development.

The European Economic and Social Committee will host their 560th Plenary session. The session will include debates on Strategy for Sustainable and Smart Mobility with Commissioner Vălean and European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan, the Porto Social Summit and the upcoming EU Action Plan for Social Economy with Commissioner Schmit.

Revised Trans-European Energy Infrastructure Regulation fit for the Green and Digital Transition
This online consultation will enable stakeholders to present their concerns and queries of the European Committee of the Regions drafter opinion “Revised Trans-European Energy Infrastructure Regulation fit for the Green and Digital Transition”, which deals with the European Commission Proposal for a ‘Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council’ on guidelines for trans-European energy infrastructure and repealing Regulation (EU) No 347/2013 (COM(2020) 824 final).
Wednesday 28 April
Dialogue on Just Transition
The third meeting of the Just Transition Platform will include a multi-level dialogue with stakeholders from EU coal, carbon and fossil fuel-intensive regions. This virtual meeting will enable an open dialogue between the relevant stakeholders, to discuss progress, obstacles as well as opportunities and possible ways forward to ensure a just transition in EU regions heavily dependent on fossil fuels and carbon-intensive industries.

Conference on e-Justice
This conference will discuss the process of transition to digital justice, on its potential and various challenges that arise, and to guarantee the access of all citizens to justice. The focus of the conference is to reflect on how the use of technologies and the design of services centred on the people can promote a close, accessible, innovative justice that monitors the socio-economic evolution of the countries.
Tuesday 27 April
Conference on Emerging Infectious diseases and related environmental, clinical and translational challenges
This hybrid conference will discuss the emergences in the area of infectious diseases in recent years, but that have become more acute since the COVID-19 pandemic started in 2020 . Other topics being discussed are climate change, the loss of ecosystems and the reduction in biodiversity. The conference will be co-organised by co-organised by the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU and by the European Molecular Biology Laboratory.
Tuesday 27 – Wednesday 28 April
From Democratisation to Cultural Democracy: Rethinking Institutions and Practices
This conference will take place in Porto Santo, Madeira, with the aim of debating and reflecting on the public policies that advance participation and the cultural commitment of the institutions and organisations in the fields of the arts and education.

Access to Medicines and Medical Devices
This digital conference is one of the main healthcare events of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union. It will focus on topics central to the agenda for the Presidency, namely the three main pillars of health: availability, accessibility and affordability with the aim of identifying priorities that will point to concrete actions regarding access to medicines and medical devices in the European Union

Recovering swiftly to limit COVID-19 scarring of Spanish corporates
The Banco de España and the European Investment Bank will be hosting this online conference. It will discuss the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the financial vulnerability of Spanish companies, as well as the policies to limit the scars to the corporate ecosystem and support the economic recovery.

Investment for a sustainable recovery in Belgium
The National Bank of Belgium and the European Investment Bank are hosting this online webinar. This event will discuss the challenges ahead, investment needs and priorities with a special focus on digitalisation and a green recovery.

PACE delegation in Albania
An 18 member PACE delegation, led by Aleksander Pociej , observed the parliamentary elections in Albania over the weekend, alongside observers from OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. A joint press conference is scheduled in Tirana later on Monday.
