There will be an exchange of view with national and regional parliaments on the current Council Presidency Trio.

Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs
There will be debates on the annual report for 2020 of the Financial Activities of the European Investment Bank, the adoption of a draft report on creating an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable European tax system in the post-COVID economy and adoption of a recommendation of the Commission Delegated Regulation extending the transitional period referred to in Article 89(1), first subparagraph, of the Regulation from 4 July 2012 on OTC derivatives, central counterparties and trade repositories 7.
Committee on Employment and Social Affairs
There will be debate for the consideration for the amendments for adequate minimum wages in the European Union, consideration and a motion for a resolution on the introduction of an European Social Security number with a personal labour card. There will be structured dialogue with Vice-President of the European Commission with responsibility for An Economy that Works for People, Valdis Dombrovskis, and Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit. There will also be a hearing on Juan Menéndez-Valdés, the EU-OSHA Executive Director nominee. There will also be presentation of a study on the impact of teleworking and digital work on workers and society.
Joint Meeting: Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs & Committee on Legal Affairs
There will be an exchange of views on a computerised system for communication in cross-border civil and criminal proceeding and amending Regulation (EU) 2018/1726. There will also be a hearing on strengthening Democracy and Media Freedom and Pluralism in the EU: undue use of actions under civil and criminal law to silence journalists, NGOs and civil society.
Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs
There will be a vote on the adoption of the Commission’s 2020 Rule of law report. There will also be a vote on the provisional agreement resulting from interinstitutional negotiations on the conditions of entry and residence of third-country nationals for the purposes of highly skilled employment.

Thursday 3 June
Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (Transport)
EU Transport Ministers will discuss the Single European Sky proposals, the directive on the use of hired vehicles and the Commission’s proposal on transitional measures for the recognition of third country certificates in inland navigation. The ministers will also adopt conclusions on “Putting rail at the forefront of smart and sustainable and mobility” as well as the Commission’s strategy for sustainable and smart mobility to achieve the green and digital transformation of the EU’s transport system.
Friday 4 June
EU-Kyrgyzstan Cooperation Council
Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (Telecommunications)
EU Telecommunications Ministers will discuss the Data Governance Act proposal, measures for a high common level of cybersecurity (NIS2 directive) and the 2030 Digital Compass. The Slovenian delegation will introduce its programme for the incoming presidency.

On the occasion of EU Green Week, the Commission will be hosting events online to engage with all stakeholders and interested citizens on how to work together to make the ambition for a zero pollution and toxic-free environment a reality.

The Commission will officially launch the European Public Prosecutor’s Office which will be in charge of conducting criminal investigations and prosecutions for crimes against the EU budget and the EU’s financial interests.

College Meeting
This week the college will meet to discuss the European Semester Spring Package, A trusted and secure European e-ID. They will also discuss a communication on a Strategy for the future of Schengen as well as an amendment of the Regulation establishing the Schengen Evaluation Mechanism.
LIFE Awards 2021
The European Commission has chosen the 15 finalists for this year’s LIFE Awards. An online ceremony announcing the winners will take place as part of EU Green Week and will recognise excellence in three categories: nature protection, environment and climate action.

The EU strategy on the rights of the child and the European child guarantee
The EESC is hosting an online public hearing on The Strategy on the Rights of the Child and the Child Guarantee. It will gather viewpoints on socioeconomic inclusion and combatting violence against children with participation of organisations and other stakeholders working in the field.
European Semester Annual Conference 2021
The European Semester Group of the EESC is following the Recovery and Resilience Facility as it moves into its next phase. This online conference will discuss the National Recovery and Resilience Plans feasibility and delivery and will focus on its implementation and the level of involvement of civil society organisations.
Tuesday 1 June
EU Disability Strategy 2021-2030
The EESC ill organise an online public hearing to prepare its opinion on the Commission’s proposal on the “EU Disability Strategy 2021-2030”. The aim of the event is to gather input from the EU institutions and organisations representing persons with disabilities.
20th Anniversary of the first EU sustainable development strategy
This online event is a EU Green Week partner event on the 20th anniversary of the Gothenburg Summit in June 2001, which will take stock of the implementation of sustainable development policy in the EU and consider the Sustainable Development Goals.
Thursday 3 – Friday 4 June
ECI Day 2021
The 10th edition of the European Citizens’ Initiative Day will take place online and will feature debates on the ECI instrument, focusing on aspects key to making the ECI more powerful and strengthening participatory democracy at EU level. It will look at lessons learned from case law on the ECI, and why citizens are more familiar with and make greater use of the ECI tool in some countries and regions than others and what we can learn from their experiences.

Preparing Europe for Climate Change: Reinforcing climate adaptation in the regions and cities
This online event will discuss the European Green Deal and the new EU Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change as well as the upcoming Mission on Adaptation to climate change, the ability of the EU become climate neutral by 2050 and mitigate climate change.

The role of regions and cities in delivering high-quality apprenticeships for all
The European Committee of the Regions and the European Alliance for Apprenticeships are organising this online conference. It will feature a political dialogue between the European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit, and the President of the Committee of the Regions, Apostolos Tzitzikostas and it will also include the contribution of the Chair of the Commission for Social Policy, Education, Employment, Research and Culture.

Digital Assembly – Leading the Digital Decade
This two-day online event is co-organised by the Portuguese Presidency and the European Commission. This event will focus on Europe’s digital transformation towards 2030, its goals and how to meet these objectives.

“Data from and for Society” Event
Statistics Portugal and Eurostat are organising the European Statistical System high-level seminar on “Data from and for Society”. The event will focus on the relevance and benefits of using public and privately held data in the production of statistics as a contribution to society and on enhancing the value of statistics as a public good.

International Conference on “Data Technologies – New approaches to better regulation”
This online conference organised by the Portuguese Presidency will discuss data technologies in the support of better regulation with high level stakeholders.

The European Ombudsman, in participation with the Institute of International and European Affairs will host an event on the topic of ‘Lessons from the EU response to COVID-19’.

Countering misuse of administrative resources in electoral period
The Electoral Assistance Division of the Council of Europe along with the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Moldova and its Centre for Continuous Electoral Training are organising an online awareness raising event on “Countering the misuse of administrative resources during electoral processes”. Mr Barrett of the Venice Commission will also speak on “The international framework on combatting the misuse of administrative resources during electoral processes”.
