Brussels – The European Movement International (EMI) congratulates its National Council, the European Movement Germany, which has been awarded the “EurActiv award for Debating Europe Nationally“ in the category of “NGO Leader or Organisation”.

The EM Germany received the award for developing a nationwide platform for improving European political communication. The so called “EU-de-briefings” gather non-governmental and governmental players at an early stage of national debate, providing a unique opportunity for information and opinion exchange.

The award recognises the outstanding position of the European Movement as a network which fosters and enhances European political communication on both the European and national level. The awarded project of the European Movement Germany is an excellent example of successful activities that will serve as an inspiration for the whole network.

More than 110 individuals, organisations and movements were nominated for the “EurActiv Awards for Debating Europe Nationally” in 2009. European winners in five categories and two special prizes were selected by a VIP jury. The award ceremony took place on the 12th of November in the European Parliament in Brussels.
