JEF Europe appalled by US decision to withdraw from Paris Agreement
JEF Europe is shocked about President Trump’s recent decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris Agreement and calls upon the European Union to step up to global leadership in Paris implementation policies.
“Climate change knows no borders – that is why we all have to work together. Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement shows a lack of global responsibility and solidarity and will eventually be self-harming.”, says Christopher Glück, President of JEF Europe.
Glück continues: “It’s time for Europe to do its homework and set the pace for the global fight against climate change. As a first step the EU needs to take credible actions for the Paris Agreement implementation and amend the EU Emission Trading System and Effort Sharing Decision to reflect the globally agreed temperature limitation goals.”
