Frédéric Vallier was elected secretary general of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), on 30 November 2009. He should take office in February 2010.
 
At its meeting in Berlin, on 30 November and 1 December 2009, CEMR’s Policy Committee voted in favour of Frédéric Vallier. He will succeed outgoing secretary general Jeremy Smith who holds this position since May 2002.
