Once conceived as a project to consolidate reconciliation between countries in a war prone continent, the idea of a common European defence policy is now mainly considered as a necessity to help the EU become a fully-fledge actor on the world stage. Recent attempts to foster such a project include PESCO and the European Intervention Initiative. In a special issue dedicated to investigating the objectives and instruments of such European defence policy projects, L’Europe en formation will propose an analytic perspective on the following issues:

• Challenges and responses
• Driving an hampering forces
• Explaining and reforming the CSDP

Requirements: Articles should be around 6000 words long. They can be written in French or English. The deadline for submission is July 30 (publication due in October 2019).
